What is the difference between GE Silicone I and Silicone II

Post by admin » 09 Nov 2015, 22:04

The short answer: GE Silicone II is better but it depends on the application ....

According to GE website.
If you go through technical description of both products the difference is:

GE Silicone II will be
30-MINUTE SHOWER-READY (Silicone I doesn't have this in the description)

and

GE Silicone II* Kitchen & Bath has SEVEN-YEAR MOLD-FREE PRODUCT PROTECTION
Mold-free product protection helps keep the cured caulk mold- and mildew-free and looking clean for seven years

which non of the Silicone I products offer BUT
looking trough various forums on line we found that none of the GE silicone products (sold in big box stores) are good for aquariums or marine use. Brands like Dow Corning or DAP are more superior for those applications.

if you have experience with these products let up know if you agree or disagree .....
